How Goalkeeper Gloves Are Manufactured

A goalkeeper glove looks simple. It is actually a 20-part construction with a science-driven latex chemistry — here is how ours are built in Sialkot.

1. Latex selection

The palm decides everything. Options include German 4mm contact latex (professional match), Giga Grip (all-weather), and hyper-grip (dry conditions). We test every batch for tack, abrasion resistance and cell density before it enters production.

2. Cut type

  • Flat cut — traditional, extra room, ideal for youth
  • Roll finger — latex wraps around the finger for maximum contact
  • Negative cut — internal seams, snug fit, favoured by pros
  • Hybrid cut — negative on the fingers, roll on the thumb

3. Backhand construction

The backhand takes the punch. Layers include latex foam (3–4mm), impact EVA, embossed shell latex, and reinforced finger-save spines on protection models. Ventilation mesh on the fingers manages heat.

4. Cutting, stitching and gluing

Pieces are die-cut, then assembled by skilled stitchers using a combination of flatlock stitching, bar-tack reinforcement at the thumb crotch, and heat-activated glue for the latex-to-backhand bond. A pro glove takes 45–70 minutes of skilled labour to assemble.

5. Wristband and closure

Closures include full wraparound, half-wrap, bandage wrist, and V-notch. Elastic strength, hook-and-loop grade and inner thumb cutout are all specified per model.

6. Quality testing

  • Grip test — 30 controlled catches on a wet leather match ball
  • Seam strength — pull test on each finger seam
  • Latex thickness — micrometer check at 6 points
  • Closure cycle test — 500 open/close cycles on the hook & loop
