Thermal compartments
- Foil-laminated PE film lining — reflects radiant heat, keeps the main compartment 10-15°C cooler than ambient in direct sun.
- Insulation foam — 3-5 mm PE foam between the outer fabric and lining. Adds insulation and cushioning.
- Twin thermal — 6-racket and larger bags separate rackets into two thermal chambers, so 3 rackets can be pulled without unzipping all 6.
- Sealed seams — thermal compartments should be bound-taped or hot-air-welded at the seam to keep the foil layer continuous.
Full compartment layout (6-racket)
- Main thermal — 6 rackets, foil-lined.
- Second thermal — 3 rackets or a change of clothes.
- Ventilated shoe compartment — bottom-loaded, mesh divider.
- Wet pocket — for towel, sweatband, wristband.
- Accessory pocket — grip tape, dampeners, string reel.
- Small valuables pocket — front top, felt-lined.
- Water bottle sleeve — side mesh.
Carrying options
- Twin backpack straps — retail standard, ergonomic S-curve, air-mesh face. Straps often stow behind a zipped panel when not in use.
- Single shoulder strap — smaller 3-racket bags.
- Grab handle — top of the bag, always present.
- Trolley pass-through — luggage strap on the back panel for wheeled travel.
Common pitfalls
- No foil lining — labelled 'thermal' but only foam-lined, does nothing for string tension in real sun.
- Backpack straps without stow panel — dangle and snag when the bag is carried by the handle.
- 6-racket bag with single main compartment — pulling one racket means unzipping all six.
- Zipper too short for the compartment length — main zip needs to reach at least 70% of length for practical loading.
- Thin base panel — bag stood upright by the door damages rackets over time; premium bags use structured EVA base.
