The Pullover Hoodie Guide
The pullover is the reference hoodie. Everything else in the range — zip-up, cropped, oversized — is a variation on this pattern. If a brand only makes one hoodie, this is it: fewest parts, lowest MOQ, widest decoration surface.
Anatomy
Front and back body panels, two sleeves, a 2- or 3-panel hood, kangaroo pocket, rib cuffs and hem, main and care labels. No zipper, no placket — that's the whole simplicity of the silhouette. Every seam is either overlock (structural) or cover-stitch (hem and pocket).

Decoration surface
A pullover has the widest uninterrupted decoration surface in the hoodie family — no zipper down the front means big chest hits, full-back prints and centre-front artwork all work. Sleeves and hood take secondary hits. Kangaroo pocket top-edge is the third placement slot.
Range building
- Starter range: 1 pullover in 3 colours × 4 sizes = 1,200 pcs at 300/colour MOQ.
- Add zip-up: reuse pattern, add centre-front placket and YKK zipper. +6 weeks and +15% FOB.
- Add cropped: same fabric, cropped block. Female range extension at low incremental cost.
- Add oversized: same fabric, +6cm body, +3cm sleeve, dropped shoulder — reads as a completely different SKU.
Common pitfalls
- Setting hood at the wrong angle — hood pitches forward and sits weird when down. Test on a live head, not a mannequin.
- Pocket set too low — traditional streetwear places pocket 8–10cm above the hem; too low kills the silhouette.
- Skipping the neck tape — the hood-attach seam scratches without a tape covering it.
- Under-speccing rib — the pullover uses more rib per unit than a zip-up (full hem, both cuffs). Order accordingly.
