What private label actually means
Private label uses an existing factory silhouette — snapback, dad hat, trucker, bucket — and adds brand identity through labels, decoration and packaging. Construction is fixed, so lead time is short and MOQ is lower than a full OEM programme. Ideal for a first launch or a capsule.
Label anatomy — every touchpoint
- Main label (front sweatband or inside crown): woven damask, printed satin, or a PU / leather patch. Signals brand.
- Size label (back sweatband): flat woven with size — S/M/L or fitted 7 1/4 etc.
- Care label (inside crown): fibre content and wash instructions. Legally required in EU / US.
- Origin label: 'Made in Pakistan' — required for customs. Can be combined with the care label.
- Under-visor sticker: holographic or matte foil sticker on the underside of the visor — streetwear signature.
- Sweatband print: interior print on the sweatband — brand url or slogan.
Hangtag & sticker system
- Main hangtag: 300gsm coated stock, offset print, spot UV or foil possible. String-attached to closure or sweatband.
- Product info tag: SKU, size, colour, price bar — often a second smaller tag.
- Barcode / SKU sticker: on the polybag exterior for retail scanning (EAN-13 or UPC-A).
- Under-visor holographic sticker: keeps the visor pristine and prints authenticity messaging.
Packaging — polybag to retail box
- Polybag: standard clear LDPE, suffocation warning printed. Optional printed polybag from 3,000 pcs.
- Cap-shaper insert: cardboard or moulded pulp shape inside the crown to hold form in transit.
- Gift box: two-piece rigid box for premium — cost adds meaningful FOB.
- Master carton: 5-ply corrugated, standard 50 or 60 caps per carton depending on structure.
- Retail hanger: plastic or wire hanger for hanging display — specify hanger type per retailer.

Launch checklist
- Confirm silhouette + fabric + closure from factory stock.
- Sign off on all label artwork (vector, Pantone).
- Order label rolls and hangtags first — usually the gating trims.
- Approve pre-production sample with all trims installed.
- Book freight and confirm master carton labelling with your 3PL.
