Tech pack requirements

A workable tech pack means we don't guess. Send: (1) flat-line front and back with callouts, (2) size chart with 8–12 POM (points of measure) across sizes, (3) fabric spec — fibre, GSM, brushed/loopback/tech, (4) trim spec — zipper brand and length, drawcord type, eyelet finish, (5) decoration artwork with placement and Pantone codes, (6) label and hangtag artwork, (7) care instructions. Missing any of these adds a round of sampling.

Sampling stages

  • Digital mock (2–3 days) — 3D rendered proof from tech pack.
  • Fit sample (10–15 days) — sewn in size M, target fabric or nearest available.
  • PP (pre-production) sample (7–10 days) — final fabric, final trims, sign-off unit.
  • Size run (optional) — one unit per size for grading approval.

Bulk production timeline

  • Fabric knit and finish: 15–20 days (400–500 GSM fleece).
  • Cutting and sewing: 12–18 days for 500–1,500 pcs.
  • Decoration: 5–10 days depending on method mix.
  • Wash / finish / QC: 5–7 days.
  • Packaging and packing: 3–5 days.
  • Ex-factory: 40–60 days total from PP sign-off.

Costing structure

Base garment cost breaks down roughly: fabric 45–55%, trims (zipper, drawcord, eyelets, labels) 10–15%, cut-and-sew labour 20–25%, decoration 5–15% depending on method, packaging 3–5%, margin and overhead the balance. Higher GSM fleece is the biggest cost lever — 500 GSM fabric alone adds 20–30% vs 320 GSM.

Pitfalls

  • Approving fit sample without full trims — PP is what you actually sign off.
  • Skipping the size run on graded ranges — grading drift is caught here, not in bulk.
  • Under-buying fabric — 5% excess should be planned for cutting loss and defects.
  • Booking freight before wash-shrink testing on the PP sample.
