- Main compartment — top-loaded via U-shape zipper, 18-22 L useable after other compartments.
- Laptop sleeve — padded 15-inch, sits behind the back panel against the body for balance.
- Shoe compartment — bottom-loaded, horizontal zipper, ventilated mesh divider to main.
- Wet pocket — side panel, PVC or TPU lined, drainage grommet at base.
- Quick-access pocket — front top, felt-lined for phone / keys / earbuds.
- Water bottle sleeve — side mesh with elastic top.
Back panel and strap system
- Air-mesh face fabric with EVA foam channels — ventilation grooves cut into the foam for airflow.
- Foam density — 45-55 kg/m3 for retail, 60-70 kg/m3 for premium.
- S-curve shoulder straps with 8-10 mm foam, air-mesh face.
- Sternum strap — 15 mm webbing, adjustable slider.
- Load-lifter straps optional on 30+ L packs.
- Waist belt — webbing only on gym packs; foam-padded on hiking-adjacent packs.

Common pitfalls
- Shoe compartment sharing the main zipper — smell and moisture migrate up.
- Laptop sleeve without foam padding at base — corner drops crack screens.
- Straps anchored via stitch only, no bar-tack — separates within 6 months on gym users.
- No drainage on wet pocket — pooled water rots the PVC coating over one summer.
- Air-mesh back panel without EVA channels — mesh compresses flat under load, no airflow.
