Football Prices & Supplier Vetting
Honest price bands from a working Sialkot line, plus the vetting checklist and OEM mistakes that turn a promising quote into a warehouse full of returns.
Realistic OEM price bands (FOB Sialkot, size 5)
- Promotional machine-stitched: $1.20–2.50 per ball at 1,000+ pcs.
- School/club machine-stitched: $2.80–5.00.
- Academy hand-stitched, 32-panel, TPU cover, butyl bladder: $4.50–8.00.
- Training hand-stitched or 14-panel bonded, PU cover: $7.00–14.00.
- Thermal-bonded training, 12–14 panels: $9.00–16.00.
- Thermal-bonded match ball, 6–8 panels, hybrid/latex bladder: $18.00–35.00.
Above 5,000 pcs on a single SKU, expect 8–15% off. Below MOQ, expect a 20–40% surcharge or a flat sample charge — not a discount.
Vetting a supplier
- Ask for factory address and a live video walk-through of the line, not stock footage.
- Ask for the last three shipping documents (redacted buyer names) — real factories have them.
- Ask for QC report format before signing the PO, not after.
- Confirm they own the panel-cutting die and press, or that they subcontract transparently.
- Ask about their capacity per month for your construction — a hand-stitched line runs at a different rate than a bonded one.
OEM mistakes to avoid
Chasing the lowest quote without seeing a physical sample. Signing artwork without a printed PP sample. Skipping the golden sample. Trusting a "FIFA approved factory" claim without a licensee number. Paying 100% upfront on a first order — the industry standard is 30% deposit, 70% against BL copy after PSI.
Distributor & wholesale buying
Distributors buy 5,000–20,000 pcs across 3–5 SKUs per drop, layered by tier. The economics work when a promotional and academy tier subsidise the marketing spend on the hero match SKU. If your buy is only match balls, you are leaving margin on the table.
